The Gold Coast Titans ANZAC round jersey honours the legacy of Australian Defence Force service members across all three branches-Army, Navy, and Air Force-and commemorates the courage and sacrifice of those who have served. At the heart of this tribute is Corporal Cameron Baird VC MG, a Titans member and hero of the 2nd Commando Regiment, who was posthumously awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery in Afghanistan. Corporal Baird’s legacy is closely tied to the Titans through the annual Corporal Cameron Baird VC MG Memorial Trophy, awarded to a player who exemplifies leadership, courage, and resilience. This connection embodies the Titans’ commitment to honouring his memory and instilling his values within the team.
The jersey design celebrates service members from all branches, featuring symbols of Navy veteran Sue White, whose 1977 WRANS rugby league jersey inspired the ‘V’ design, and Air Force reservist Matilda Busby, who joined in 2022 and now pursues a degree in Occupational Therapy. Sue’s legacy as a trailblazer in Navy sports and Matilda’s resilience in modern service represent the strength and dedication of servicewomen across generations.
In collaboration with Currumbin RSL, this jersey combines symbolic elements like the poppy emblem with a thoughtfully crafted design, allowing Titans fans to proudly wear this tribute. This piece serves as a bridge between the Titans community and the ANZAC spirit, celebrating stories of sacrifice, unity, and courage.
